It is a double-breasted overcoat in heavyweight red cashmere with dramatically wide lapels and a six-foot length that trails the ground behind the wearer. It moves slowly and deliberately, the way a legacy moves. Inside, it is lined in red silk: from the sack to the silk, all the way through.
The red is the blood shed in the fields by our sharecropper ancestors. The length is the distance we have traveled since. What was once worn down in the fields is now worn with dignity.
